When going into ceramics two I really wanted to make a tea set, because I saw more advanced students making teapots and I wanted to try. My parents like tea and I wanted to make them something that they could use when they have their morning tea. In my art show there are three tea cups, one sugar bowl, a teapot, a pitcher, and two extra cups without handles, that can be used for empty tea bags, or other add-ins for the tea. I threw each piece needed for my art show on the wheel, and pulled handles for my tea cups and my pitcher. I tested a glaze one day called oatmeal, and it reminded me of the flowers my mom keeps in the kitchen, so I decided to use the glaze to add a personal touch to my work. I didn’t want to use it on the whole thing, so I mixed a white and a pink together so I could have a lighter color of pink. I put oatmeal on the outside, and the light pink on the inside. I am very excited for when I take studio workshop in upcoming years, and I am glad that I made the decision to do ceramics in eighth grade.
